Murray City COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

On Thursday, November 29, 2012 Murray City began accepting project proposals from interested applicants for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.  CDBG funds assist Murray City in developing viable urban communities, including providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities particularly for low-to moderate-income individuals. In order to be eligible for CDBG funds an applicant must meet one of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Department’s national objectives of benefiting low- and moderate-income persons, preventing or eliminating slums or blight, or addressing an urgent community development need which poses a serious health or welfare threat.

Project proposals should be related to physical facility improvements and must comply with all regulations outlined in 24 CFR Part 570.  In addition, all project proposals must be conducted within Murray City limits or benefit Murray City residents. Preference will be given to proposals that address objectives outlined in the Salt Lake County Consolidated Plan. 

Murray City will hold a technical assistance meeting on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at 5025 South State Street, Murray, Utah in the City Council chambers. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend.

Interested applicants are required to submit a Letter of Intent to Apply for CDBG funds. The Letter of Intent must be submitted in order to proceed through the Murray CDBG application process. The Letter of Intent can be submitted electronically to Angela Price at aprice@murray.utah.gov or in writing to the Murray City Community and Economic Development Department, 4646 South 500 West Murray, UT 84123.  The Letter of Intent to Apply must be submitted by Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM.  Applications must be received by Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM and can either be submitted electronically or in person at the Community and Economic Development Department office.

Interested applicants can obtain relevant documents from the Murray City website, www.murray.utah.gov or by visiting the Community and Economic Development Department at 4646 South 500 West, Murray, UT 84123.  Applicants must meet the specified deadlines, late requests will not be accepted or considered. CDBG awards are contingent upon funding appropriation from the U.S. Congress.
