Visiting a National Park this summer? Healthier food options now available.

National Park Service Launches Healthy Food Program
The National Park Service (NPS) announced a plan last week to introduce healthier food and beverage options at park concession stands nationwide. The new standards will require fruits and vegetables be offered with all entrees or as a la carte options, increase the availability of low-fat and low-sodium items, and require that at least 30 percent of beverages have no added sugar. The new standards—which will serve the more than 23 million annual NPS visitors—will be integrated into all new concessions contracts, while existing contracts will be replaced with new ones incorporating the standards as they expire.
